Mental Health

The biggest challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic, in my opinion, is to keep a healthy mental state. It is far easier said than done, especially if you’re a parent with school-aged kids and toddlers home 24/7, and now working from home full time.

Now that we are all stuck at home, I really start to appreciate more and more of the work that my siblings’ teachers have been doing. Don’t get me wrong, I adore those little human pack members, but they can get quite loud and very persistent when it comes to challenging my patience, and I am a VERY patient dog. I could only imagine what mom and dad have to go through everyday trying to balance work, house chores, and homeschooling. I bet many parents are going through the same mental state as my parents, so I would like to suggest some sites that might shine a light on how to pull through this difficult time as a parent.

As the COVID-19 shutdown being extended from mid-March to the end of May for our region, many parents are struggling to find the right balance between working from home and caring for their children. I feel very fortunate that my parents are both able to work from home at this time, while both take turns to spend some time with my sibling. While I do enjoy supervising my sister while mom or dad help with her school work, and taking naps next to dad while he works, or nagging mom for snacks, or run alongside my brother’s paddle bike, I wonder how other parents are coping right now with all that is going on in their lives?
